Drink Recipes



Cuca Fresca Caipirinha (served in a 10 oz. rocks glass)
2.5 oz. Cuca Fresca Premium Cachaça
1 lime, cut into 8 pieces
2 Tbsp. superfine sugar

Place the quartered lime in a small shaker and add sugar. Muddle lime and sugar together in the bottom of the shaker. Fill the shaker to the top with ice. Fill with cachaça and shake. Garnish with a lime slice and piece of fresh sugarcane.

The Green Fairy Arrives This March @ The LCBO!





Absinthe has been considered a mythical libation, the elixir of artists, the toast of poets and the bane of governments.



Coming this March to the LCBO is Sirène Absinthe Verte, a complex, rich spirit crafted by an award-winning American artisan distillery. Sirène Absinthe Verte is the first U.S-made absinthe available in the Midwest since the spirit was banned in 1912.



Sirène is made with the traditional trinity of absinthe botanicals - anise, fennel and grand wormwood, along with a propriety blend of additional herbs to create richness and depth. Sirène embodies the rich traditions of absinthe, and is handmade with exacting precision by North Shore Distillery in Illinois . Let Sirène’s beautiful nuance, flavour and aroma tempt you.

Enjoying Sirène Absinthe

Absinthe is traditionally enjoyed in a drip. Pour about an ounce and a half of absinthe in to an absinthe glass or wine glass. Then place an absinthe spoon on the glass and place a sugar cube (optional) on the spoon. If you do not have an absinthe spoon, you can use a slotted spoon or add a dash of simple syrup. Then drip ice cold water over your sugar cube and into the absinthe. You can use an absinthe fountain or simply a carafe of ice water. We recommend having your first drip with three parts water and one part Sirène. Then adjust the water next time to your personal taste.

Rating: NNNNWHERE: Bardstown, KentuckyWHY: If you’ve rolled down the hill all too often with Jack and Jim and haven’t got any cross-border whiskey expeditions planned, then consider taking a dip in Corner Creek. This high-octane corn juice is a total oak sandwich and definitely needs a spot of water (preferably non-chlorinated) to bring its warm, maple charms to light. It might offend the purists, but a single ice cube does the trick perfectly.

Regarding bourbon, which was never well stocked in my province in the first place, I really don’t know what to tell you. It’s almost disappeared, but for an interesting recent addition: Corner Creek Reserve Bourbon ($46.95) from Bardstown, Kentucky. At 88 proof, it’s incredibly smooth and refined; gets the job done without being harsh. 1 oz Cherry Herring Liqueur
1 oz Ginger Ale
Fresh Cherries for Garnish
